Volunteering with Children’s Ministry
Why is it important for us to serve in this way, with children?
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of Heaven.” Alpharetta Methodist Children’s Ministry is the entry point of our Next Generation Discipleship Ministry, beginning with the littlest ones in the nursery and continuing on for the next 12 years through the end of a child’s 5th grade year. We partner with over 100 volunteers each year who introduce children to Jesus, show them that each one is loved by God, and teach children how to worship and pray.

What does volunteering on Sunday morning look like?
Three teams of volunteers serve on a rotational schedule:
- 1 month on, followed by two months off
- August-May
- Serving at either the 9, 10 or 11 a.m. hours
Volunteer Opportunities During the 2023-24 School Year:
- Welcome Team (8:45-9 a.m., 9:45-10 a.m. or 10:45-11 a.m.)
- Pre-K Worship Hour (9 or 11 a.m.)
- Pre-K Sunday School (10 a.m.)
- K-3rd Grade Kids’ Worship (9 or 11 a.m.)
- K, 1st, 2nd or 3rd Grade Sunday School (10 a.m.)
- Club45 Sunday School (10 a.m.)
- Club45 Meeting Volunteers (12-2:30 p.m. once per month)
Preschool Ministry volunteers lead our 3 and 4 year olds through Pre-K Children’s Worship with music, a Bible story and activities. Volunteers lead Pre-K Sunday School at 10 a.m. with a Bible story, crafts, games and activities.
Elementary Ministry volunteers assist with Children’s Worship for kindergarten through 3rd grade by helping with activity stations that relate to Bible lessons. Sunday School teachers at 10 a.m. bring Bible lessons alive and make them relatable to kids through interactive discussions, games, crafts and activities.
Club45, our preteen ministry, has volunteer leaders each month to help with Sunday School and monthly meetings after church.
