Text to Make a Gift

John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church, encouraged the church to work to “do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can.” He modeled modest living and sacrificial giving. At Alpharetta Methodist, we strive to help God’s children whenever and wherever we can. Just as Jesus multiplied the loaves and fishes when the crowd grew hungry, through our congregation, we strive to be the heart, spirit and hands of God’s outreaching love.

The dictionary defines “stewardship” as serving as one who manages another’s property, finances or other affairs. Stewardship isn’t just a means for the church to raise money. It’s a way of life that recognizes that everything we have is God’s – all of our time, talents, treasures, health and wealth. They are all given to us by God to use and care for responsibly, and we are simply managing those resources while here on earth. The Bible teaches about responsibility to share with others and is filled with examples of grateful response to God’s generous gifts.

Perhaps another word for stewardship is love — God’s love working upon and through us. Your prayers, presence, gifts and service are important in helping Alpharetta Methodist contribute to missions around the world; operate ministry programs that make disciples of men, women and children; maintain our church building and grounds; and pay the salaries of the pastors and staff who oversee ministry areas.
