Caring for Caregivers Workshops
What Is the Caring for Caregivers Ministry?
Behind just about every senior suffering with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is a caregiver.
But who takes care of the caregivers?
Did you know that more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s right now? By 2050, the number of people 65 and older with Alzheimer’s and dementia is projected to be around 12.7 million. What we know to be true is that behind every person who is dealing with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other related issues there is a caregiver doing their best to provide all the help, support and care they can for their loved one.
Alpharetta Methodist strives to help those impacted along with their families and friends. One way we do this is by providing Caring for Caregivers Conferences twice a year. We also have two Caregiver Support Groups that meet regularly to offer community and support. Our website offers resources as well.
If you, your family and or friends find yourself in a place of being a Caregiver or you are the one dealing Alzheimer’s or dementia we are here to offer support, encouragement and share some resources. Please contact Rev. Terri Henkel to learn more about these resources.
The Summit Counseling Center is a local mental health center providing a wide range of specialty services for individuals, couples and families. Therapists are fully licensed and offer professional counseling integrating body, mind, spirit and community. Visit their website for a list of services.
Alpharetta Methodist hosts the Summit’s Mental Health Collaborative on the last Thursday of each month. Learn more here.
